Remote Connections to NC A&T Systems

North Carolina A&T employs secure file transfers and secure shell access to its servers.  The security protocol used is SSH2.

To open a connection,  a Terminal Emulation client with SSH2 is required. University licensed Secure-CRT, or the Open Source Software, putty, are compatible. For those who need to transfer files, an FTP client that supports SSH2 is required, such as FileZilla or SimpleFTP. Older Terminal Emulation and FTP software like QVT-Term, KEA and QVT-Ftp are not compatible.

Generic Setup of Secure Telnet or Secure FTP software

For those who know how to setup the software, here are the settings values you seek;
Host: ais.ncat.edu
Connection Type: Telnet with SSH2; for FTP clients, use SSH2 as well.
username: ais user name
password: ais user password

University Licensed Telnet Application

The offical software for terminal connections to AIS systems, such as SIS, FRS, and HRS, is Secure CRT. Directions for use and download information is provided here.

For most AIS users on Campus, the software is already installed remotely over the Employee domain.
